What does it mean to be “Born-Again”?

There are many explanations of what being “Born-Again” means. The simplest and best definition comes from Jesus himself when he was asked the question by Nic in the Bible (John 3:3). What comes from flesh is flesh, and what comes from spirit is spirit and the two aren’t the same. The book of Romans, (Romans 10:9-10) says that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” When Jesus is your Lord, you become “Born-Again”
Becoming “Born-Again” is easy peazy, like eating peach pie. The door is wide open, but there are few who walk through, and just because it’s easy to accept Christ, doesn’t mean it’s an easy life once you become “Born-Again”, it just means that it’s not hard to come to Jesus and receive forgiveness and be born-again into a new spiritual life. Jesus said he would accept anyone who came to him, not just the ones who were good enough.
What is really hard, is staying away from Jesus and the life he offers by being born-again. A person has to fight every day to reject Christ and continue in sin. Waking up every morning knowing you are on the wrong path, but then continuing down the road to destruction takes incredible effort. You are like a soldier fighting to stay in darkness and making decisions every day that you know will take you closer to being in hell forever. This is an epic battle that consumes your strength each day, forcing you to turn away from the goodness of God, raging against the mercy he offers and destroying any chance of eternal life for you and for those you influence around you.
“Opsonion” is the Greek word for “wages” or the “pay given to a soldier” The book of Romans that is written in Greek says “The wages, (or “Opsonion”) of sin is death” (Romans 6:23) If you fight really, really hard like a good soldier should, you will be paid your wages. In the end your soldiers pay or wages for fighting so hard against Jesus will be death and hell. Holding out and fighting against him to the very end is incredibly hard and anything but easy! If you’re getting tired of the pitchfork and you need some direction and peace, Jesus stands at the door of your heart and knocks, his yoke is easy and his burden is light. Surrender and have a nice piece of peach pie.
When you’re only born once you die twice. But if you are born twice, you will only die once. If you find yourself at the crossroads and you still can’t figure it out, think about this; One road has Jesus who is alive and in Heaven. The other road has a dead guy. So, what road do you want to follow, the road with a dead guy, or the road with Jesus?
